Reinforcing a Trusted Mayoral Candidate Through Clear Communications & Campaign Strategy
Casey Vaughan
As Mayor Casey Vaughan entered his re-election campaign, the objective was to clearly communicate progress while reinforcing the trust built through steady, accountable leadership. The campaign needed to reflect both record and vision—highlighting tangible outcomes in infrastructure, economic development, and quality-of-life investments—without drifting into political excess.
The challenge was creating a modern, effective campaign presence that maintained the credibility of an active mayor, ensuring every message felt earned, accurate, and appropriate for a municipal audience.
Double Shift Studio served as the campaign’s strategic and operational communications lead, managing campaign structure, messaging, creative direction, and execution across the full election cycle. Our work emphasized clarity, discipline, and proof–grounding every communication in verifiable outcomes and documented progress.

Our Approach
We served as the campaign’s strategic and operational communications lead, managing campaign structure, messaging, creative direction, and execution across the full election cycle. At the center of the campaign was a unifying narrative focused on responsible growth, long-term planning, and continuity of leadership. From that foundation, we developed a cohesive communications framework that translated complex capital projects, funding wins, and policy initiatives into clear, voter-focused storytelling across print, digital, and video platforms.
Every decision—from messaging hierarchy to visual tone—was made with governance credibility in mind, ensuring the campaign felt confident, grounded, and appropriate for a municipal election.
Execution
The campaign’s visual and narrative identity was intentionally restrained—confident, civic-minded, and grounded in place. Typography, color, and layout emphasized clarity and credibility, allowing substance to lead over stylistic excess.
We produced and directed original campaign commercials and short-form digital video, developing both longer narrative spots and platform-specific reels for digital distribution. Video storytelling focused on leadership, momentum, and community impact—using real projects and documented outcomes to reinforce trust and continuity.
Across print, digital, video, and on-the-ground materials, consistency was paramount. Original commercial production, short-form digital video, mail, signage, and voter-facing assets were deployed cohesively across the full election cycle.
The Results
The campaign successfully reinforced Mayor Vaughan’s leadership record while presenting a disciplined, modern communications presence appropriate for municipal governance. Messaging, visual identity, and video storytelling worked together to clearly articulate progress and direction for the city.
Mayor Vaughan was re-elected with 69 percent of the vote, securing a decisive victory and affirming voter confidence in the city’s leadership and long-term trajectory.
The final body of work reflects our ability to manage complex, high-stakes civic communications—from strategy and messaging through full-scale production and execution.
